Vegan Fossil Fuel free Index Funds

Hi

I am very spiritual minded Index fund interested investor based on the strategy of MMM. I am wondering what would be the best way to go about a Vegan, Dairy Free, Fossil Fuel Free Index Fund or customized Vegan, dairy free, Fossil Fuel Free Index Fund MMM Life Retirement strategy? Thank you so much.

My take continues to be:

• Investing in a company provides little if any direct benefit to the company.
• Not investing in a company rewards other people willing to invest in the company.
• Investments that exclude profitable companies are likely to underperform.
• Index funds that exclude classes of companies are niche products that take more work, so the expense ratio has to be higher.

 

If these arguments make sense, then you're better off making social change in other ways, including by using the extra money you'll have from regular index fund investing to donate to causes you believe in.

It does look like a bit of a parody. Speaking for myself, I’m a huge fan of ESG investing and I hope it becomes the next big thing. Because someone needs to take the other side of that bet.

These are good options.  In addition to Vanguard, a number of other firms also offer "ethical" funds that are intended to be environmentally/socially-conscious or fossil fuel-free.  I don't know about "vegan" funds, however.

Depending on how "pure" the OP wants his/her portfolio to be, he/she could create their own diversified portfolio of individual stocks - however, I'd strongly suggest reading up on portfolio/investing theory before embarking on such a path.

I'd look at Health funds, since Vegan diets are actually killing people in wealthy western countries, vegans are going to end up in hospitals so that's probably the best way to invest in vegans.

Is it hypocritical if your broker or whomever is on the other side of the trade is a total wheat-sucking, petroleum guzzling, litterbug?

I don't mind gluten as long as it is pasture raised and ethically treated. Is there a good pasture raised ethically treated gluten-ful index fund?
