Preferred Stock ETF's
« on: January 23, 2015, 12:48:46 PM »
Anybody have any thoughts on Preferred Stock etf's. I was looking at buying (PGX) yielding 6%. Was thinking to add to it kinda like a dollar cost averaging on a monthly basis as maybe 10-15% of portfolio. I can buy it without commission through Schwab.

Just my input if you are investing at Schwab...

Schwab's market-cap index ETFs have the lowest expense ratios in the industry. My suggestion would be to build a portfolio of low cost index ETFs and hold them for the long term.

I have ITOT (Total US Market) and IXUS (Total Intl Market) with expense ratios 0.07 and 0.14, respectively. These are Fidelity's equivalents to Vanguard's VTI and VXUS.

I have shares of PFF (ishares Preferred ETF) for several years now.  If you open an account at Fidelity, you can trade this ETF commission free.  No complaints.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
