Apologies I haven't given it a thorough go through myself yet but first impression is that it looks like it has a lot of potential.

I don't understand what this is exactly. How is it better than just using, say Vanguard's tool to arrive at an asset allocation and related low-cost funds?

??

Seems like a great deal of glitter for things that already exist.

Hi - back.

Looking again I'm not sure what exactly got me excited about this. I think it was the fact that it's open source, so you can either start tinkering with the code yourself, or you can wait until other people develop modules etc to make it do everything you want it to do (wait until people start writing interfaces to trading APIs - hello robo-investor-in-a-box).

I also like the fact that you can host it yourself (and therefore you don't have to have all your financial data in the cloud), and also I see potential for it as a product to use to manage the investments of friends/family. I assume I'm not the only person on these forums who is quasi-financial-advisor for family/friends.

Agree a lot of what it does in its current form makes it of limited use but give it a few months and there's a good chance it will have its own community working to make it better than the current incumbents.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
