New predictions for 2022 retirement accounts limits
« on: August 11, 2021, 09:31:43 AM »
Not sure if this is the right forum, but The Finance Buff has just updated his annual predictions for the 2022 limits, after today's CPI release.

2021 2022 401k 403b 457 TSP IRA FSA HSA Contribution Limits

tl;dr (assuming he's right and the CPI numbers don't change drastically in the coming months)

Changing:

401(k) and similar, elective deferral limit   $19,500 -->  $20,500
Annual Additions Limit                        $58,000 -->  $61,000
HCE Threshold                                $130,000 --> $135,000
Simple 401(k) / IRA                           $13,500 -->  $14,000

Not changing:

Catch-up       $6,500 --> $6,500
tIRA/Roth IRA  $6,000 --> $6,000

There's more in the blog post. I'm stupidly excited about the $61k annual additions limit... really hope it holds!

It'll probably be moved to the Taxes section at some point but that's alright.

Glad the limits are <likely> increasing but I will miss $19,500 divided by 26 pay periods being an even $750.

I know he's been right for years, but I think it's still remotely possible that the 401k limits will go all the way to $21k.

Also divides nicely into 9 units of $750 and 3 units of $4250. I may have changed jobs on 5/1 . . .

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
