Need to schooled....
« on: April 14, 2015, 07:13:48 PM »
After reading various posts in the forums and posting a couple questions it has become painfully obvious that I need to read more to come up to speed on everything from investing to taxes, to ensure I am approaching both in the most advantageous way.  What are your suggestions to build a good foundation for investing and understanding taxes from the standpoint of wanting to  retire (at 55) in  5 years?

Reading posts on the forum is a great way to learn what you need to know. If you have specific questions you can ask them. But all the important stuff is posted here over and over.

If you just want the overview, I recommend watching this short video series.  Yes the guy is over-the-top silly, but the information is gold:

If you want to go more in-depth:

A Random Walk Down Wall Street by Burton Malkiel is a great investment book if you want to read a book and not just forum threads. That being said I'm sure the info is covered here in multiple posts.
