I know we're not supposed to time the market, but what about timing when I will move my money? :)

Had a bad experience when I moved my RRSP/TFSA from my previous FA to TD e-series.  Through a series of fuckups by idiots at the bank, my money was out of the market for about 6 weeks.  Of course, that happened to be when my investments should have jumped up 5%, had my money been anywhere!  I want to avoid losing out on a gain like that in the future!

When I eventually move to Questrade, I am hoping there won't be a 6 week lag time.  Is there anything I can do to avoid particular times the market will make big moves- I was thinking around rate change times (like when the BoC changes it's rate- that seems to influence the markets).  Certain times/months of the year I should avoid?  Should I move my RRSP and TFSA at the same time, or separately (I guess it has to be the same time, because I am putting different assets in each one)?

One option could be (depending on your holdings) move "in kind".  i.e. don't sell, just move securities from one account to another.  Of course, then you may need to pay fees to sell from the new account, where the sell order may have been free had you moved cash instead of holdings.
