Well, I am 45yro and am an executive assistant in tech. I have a portfolio run by a financial advisor, which I am keeping. It's worth about $330k atm. I have purchased 2 rental properties over the last 4 years. 1 in NOLA (bought in 2022) and 1 in the Russian River CA. I also bought a $10k I-Bond at the end of 2022 and the beginning of 2023. I max my 401k and stock purchase programs.
I have about 30k from the TWTR sale (I was previously at Twitter but before it dismantled). So I am trying to pick the best avenue to invest this money, plus any bonuses and extra money from my paychecks into. I do have a 6mo reserve fund for emergencies. So I feel like I am set on the things I should have done but now I am not sure what to do. I have been hearing/researching a lot about VTI, so I decided to take the 30k and any other extra cash flow and put it into VTI but I just want to get thoughts around that here. I want the money to continue working but I don't want to be reckless and make the wrong decision.
I expect that I will continue working (if willing - I also have insurance to help protect any medical reasons that would arise that would prevent this) for the next 10-15 years unfortunately. However, I am really financially driven so having a job is important to me.
I have a partner but we do not share money, although recently I have started to cover some things for him as he is out of work. I do not have any children, so no one to leave money for, nor do I want to plan on having money to give to someone when I die. I just want to safely make the most money I can so that I can live a really nice retirement.
Any advice this platform could give would be great! Thank you so much!
