Automating investment to taxable account
« on: August 01, 2018, 04:53:53 PM »
While most brokerages offer a means to automate mutual fund investments on a regular schedule, a similar feature is not typically provided for ETFs.

I trade with Charles Schwab, and for many of the types index funds I am interested in, the only commission free-option is their ETFs. Obviously I could switch brokerages to Vanguard and automatically invest with their mutual funds, but I'm looking to keep things simple and stick with Schwab for now.

What strategy do you use to invest on a regular schedule to a portfolio that includes ETFs with low effort? In the past, I've invested weekly to keep with the dollar-cost-average strategy, but it became a bit painful to manage with trades at that frequency. Is there a better answer other than to trade less frequently?

Thanks!
