Hi all,
My husband and I are somewhat new mustachians, and are currently formulating our plan for FI in the next 10 years. Our current financial plan involves throwing as much money at my 6.5% interest student loans (about 50% of our take home pay) until they are gone (about 1 year left!!) After that, we're going to start putting that same amount of money (around $3,000/month) into investments. We do have a 401 K worth about $150,000 and a mortgage we are also paying off.
Our investment plan before used to be "put it into the 401 K and see what happens." Right now we're actually not contributing to 401 K at all, as we're putting every extra dime into paying off the loans.
I don't know anything about investing money, and think if I was better educated, I would be able to choose more wisely. It's hard to participate in these discussions on MMM forum without some baseline knowledge. I've gotten GREAT advise on these forums in the past, and would like some book recommendations on where to start educating myself so I can make good investment decisions when we do start investing our money again, so we can be on our way to FI!
BTW, I have looked at the book recommendations on the blog, but there are so many there it is overwhelming. Not sure which ones fit my needs right now.
Thanks!!!
