Hubby no longer working - how to replace his 401K
« on: June 27, 2017, 09:17:05 AM »
Hi ..

My hubby is no longer working and I am maxing out my 401K.  Since he is no longer contributing to a 401K, how can we invest for him going forward?  We are 5 years away from FIRE and 90% of our investment is in our 401K's.  We are both 50 years old.

Now that he is no longer working, our income falls below the limit to contribute to a ROTH .. should we do that?  I realize that doesn't help our tax deferred investment that he had when contributing to 401K.

Roth IRAs can be good, but also taxable accounts.  You could also look at a traditional IRA.
