HSA First Timer
« on: November 09, 2017, 12:25:13 PM »
Alright guys I am jumping into the HSA pool for the first time.

I get no contribution or anything from my employer so I am on my own.

I get how they work but does anyone have any expert advice or suggestions on some good providers or a good comparison resource?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Does your employer provide your health plan and an HSA? Half of the benefit of an HSA is skipping the FICA taxes on contributions. If you contribute outside of your paycheck, you will still owe FICA (~7.6%) on the contributions. So it's not ideal if it can be avoided.
