I'm looking into investing into some index funds using vanguard.com and I was wondering about some advice on that. There are a lot of different funds and what not in there. I've been mostly looking into the VTSMX fund and also the VTTVX. Any pros/cons that y'all could help me out with? Also, what would be a recommendation for the initial investment? Just does the minimum investment do fine for the beginning? Or should I look to do a little more? I don't have a ton to invest, but if it makes a huge difference, I could go a little higher than the minimum. My base amount I was looking to start with is $5,000, any thoughts about that?
