Hello all -
I'm having some trouble purchasing VTSAX from my Vanguard account and I'm not sure what I'm missing. I have $80k in a prime money market account and I'd like to use $10k of that money to purchase VTSAX. Seems simple, but apparently not, at least based on my efforts to make it happen.
I can obviously call Vanguard on Monday when their customer service center is open, but hoping someone here could point me in the right direction.
Thanks!

Did you go in and try to sell/cash in some of the prime money market account and did they ask you what you fund you wanted the prime money to go to? Did you look under exchange?

This is how I do it:
o log in
o click on My Accounts and select Buy & Sell
o click on Buy Vanguard Funds
o if this is your 1st purchase, add VTSAX to your account
o then just enter the amounts and from where info
o follow instructions to confirm buy
Good Luck:)

Yes, I did, but a message popped up saying that I could not transfer between the two accounts selected. I created a brokerage account (not sure if this was a the correct thing to do) and tried to transfer funds into it from the prime money market, but no dice.
I'll probably just call Vanguard on Monday, but seems I should be able to figure this out with ease. Strange...

You should be able to EXCHANGE into the fund, which is to sell from Prime Money Market and buy VTSAX. I've never had any issues. Hope it works out for you.
