Here's our retirement allocation. Any thoughts??
« on: January 27, 2017, 10:21:31 AM »
My wife and I are about to be debt free other than our home in 3 weeks. This will be the first year we can max out both our 401K's and IRA's. Before we start piling money into our accounts I would like your thoughts on mutual funds. I'm 31 and my wife is 29, we have no kids and our risk tolerance is pretty high. I currently am ok being in 100% stocks.

My 401K: (PLFIX)Principle Large Cap S&P 500 Index (ER 0.18) (33.33% of 401K)
               (PMFPX) Principle MidCap S&P 400 Index (ER 0.18) (33.33% of 401K)
               (PSSIX) Principle SmallCap S&P 600 Index (ER 0.18) (33.34% of 401K)
My Roth:  (VFIAX) Vangauard 500 Index Admiral (ER 0.05) (100% of Roth)

Wife's 401K: (VPMAX) Vanguard PRIMECAP Adm (ER 0.34) (100% of 401K)
Wife's Roth: TBD (Doesn't have one yet)

If it's worth noting. We haven't fully committed to using Roths going forward, we might switch to contributing to traditional iras instead. Please share your thoughts on on current allocation?
Thank You!

I can't give you specific advice about a good asset allocation, but I can say that most of the early retirees I've talked to also have close to a 100% stock portfolio because they want to make sure to keep ahead of inflation over a 50+ year retirement.

Two websites have helped me tremendously when studying asset allocations:
  1) Tyler's http://portfoliocharts.com
  2) https://www.portfoliovisualizer.com/backtest-asset-class-allocation
