Title: Help with my Fidelity 403B
Post by: bjack2 on May 28, 2014, 10:17:33 PM
I am in the process of figuring out where to allocate my retirement account from work (through fidelity).  It is a 403b that I have maxed out my contributions and unfortunately there are very limited options.  I was automatically enrolled in a target retirement fund (Freedom 2040) but want to use a more low cost index fund approach.  The only options other than target funds and managed accounts are VINIX (vanguard domestic large cap index fund) FSIVX (Spartan international Stock index fund) and the Vanguard total bond index fund.  I like the simplicity and passive approach of a 3 fund portfolio that I reallocate back to even distribution on a yearly basis.  I was thinking of dividing the money evenly in these three funds and over time increasing the Bond % as I age ( I am 37 and plan to retire at 57.  Thoughts?  Too risky?  Thanks!
Ben

It depends...

But with a 20 year horizon, 33% bonds would be too conservative for my taste.
