Newbie here-took forever to register.....who knew the question about the mmm family was not about my family.....
I am weary from portfoliovisualizer, portfoliocharts, allocatesmartly, cliff smith's work on seekingalpha and so on.
My father died and I want a set it and forget it model for my mother-she doesn't need the money so the time frame is at least ten years. Ideally I don't want to rebalance each month but yearly. So active fund/etf rotation is out the window (and also cliff smith's great 10% cagr with 3% std dev models-they are awesome).
After weeks of building models I come back to 50/50 sp500/bonds (50 fusex and 50 fbidx). Maybe the all weather portfolio if one is ok with gold but I have to build it out of fidelity funds or fidelity NTF funds so I'm limited.
So please someone help-does anyone have a good static portfolio? I've gone through all the built in ones on PV and nothing is that fun (swenson, swedloe, couch potatoe, three fund, four fund, etc...) I've looked at the white coat investor's 150 portfolios (
http://whitecoatinvestor.com/150-portfolios-better-than-yours/).
The most tempting thing is (hard to believe) 100% in SPY with a 200 day moving average and going to FBDIX on the sell. Lowers risk by half but its not static.
Ideally I would be happy with 6-7% CAGR with risk of 3-4% which seems impossible for a static portfolio.
Any ideas-thanks in advance. The forum looks great-the golden butterfly thread was awesome to read.
