Gift tax -IRS form 709

I need to file IRS form 709 as part of a large gift I made last year. Neither the IRS site free fillable forms and CreditKarma support that form. Can I just fill that out and send it separately from my taxes or does that need to accompany my 2017 taxes? Thanks

Form 709 is a completely different return than your personal tax return and should be filed separately. Do not attach it to your individual return.
