Title: FSIVX? Buy?
Post by: jeromedawg on July 08, 2015, 12:15:28 PM
Hey guys,

I'm holding a pretty good amount of money in FSIVX (https://fundresearch.fidelity.com/mutual-funds/summary/315911875) right now. As with most intl stocks, it seems like it's dropping and "on sale"

So I'm assuming *NOW* is the best time to buy (as opposed to timing the market and waiting for it to drop more) ? I just cashed out a bunch of RSUs and would like to invest them right away...

I could have had an incredible tax loss harvesting opportunity on the FSIVX if I had waited a bit... I'm guessing that sort of statement is the kind that doesn't mesh well with not timing the market though?

If you have money marked for 'investing', invest it as soon as possible appropriate to your Asset Allocation and Investment Policy Statement.

from looking at the charts i don't really see it as on sale" anyway. plus the fact it has lower returns than vanguards funds. at least from what i can tell

By what benchmark?

FSIVX vs VTIAX
https://fundresearch.fidelity.com/mutual-funds/performance-and-risk/315911875
YTD 4.45% and 3YR 12.01%

https://personal.vanguard.com/us/funds/snapshot?FundId=0113&FundIntExt=INT#tab=1
YTD 3.12% and 3YR 9.89%

VTIAX doesn't have a 10 year lifetime so I compared 3YR
