Will the World save us???
« on: May 21, 2016, 10:05:10 AM »
I keep reading everything possible on the %4 SWR.  Does it not stand to reason that the emerging middle class of India, china and the rest of the world including Africa will migrate towards prosperity, eventually elevating it's growing middle class to have the ability to become investors/savers.

Looks like the growing world population and rising standards will have the entire world working for us into our retirement because it appears most of us are in early.

The world is becoming more and more prosperous and everything is getting better in the long term.

The only reason why a 4% SWR currently has a higher chance of failure are the high US stock market valuation.
For me personally 3% is the new 4% as long as we have those high US valuations and I'm planning to live from my investments for 45-50 years.

Next to VTSAX I mix some higher yielding Vanguard VYM ETF, some Vanguard REIT ETF, some single REITs and some higher yielding Singapore+ Hong Kong Index ETF (plus Lending Club and Fundrise) and then I simply live from the dividends including some safety margin.

Never sell any stock, never run out of dividends.

In general economic growth is the engine, yes. Which actual countries is rather arbitrary.
