ETF suggestion Canada
« on: June 15, 2014, 08:12:46 PM »
Any specific ETF suggestion for a canadian investor (taxable account)?
I am trading with Scotia, they have a limited selection of free ETF. However they currently have a promotion with almost unlimited free trade on any ETF.

Thank you.

Check out the top two fund family. ishares by blackrock own the majority of the Canadian market. Vanguard is making a run at them with lower rates but not as many offerings. Check out which etfs fits your needs.

Anything fully Canadian is best taxable (ZCN.TO is what I use, hmm and some XCS.TO) due to the preferential tax malarkey. Then, something that holds stocks directly - not a wrapper for a US based ETF. Vanguard Canada are just releasing a global-ex-Canada ETF. Should be pretty funky, meaning a two ETF portfolio for stocks...

Canadian Couch Potato is a good site.
