ETF funds gaining popularity
« on: August 15, 2017, 12:07:12 AM »
Hello,
I'm not changing my world view after reading one article but here an article that may be of interest, friends: https://www.ft.com/content/8720939e-7e82-11e7-9108-edda0bcbc928 (It should be free).

"What may have been a clever idea in its infancy has grown into a blob which is destructive to the growth-creating prospects of free-market capitalism.” Says someone who is probably feeling the squeeze.

I'm not too informed about economics but a lot of the content in this article is in stark contrast to general MMM philosophies.

Not all money is in ETFs and index funds, but I wonder what the implications will be when even more is concentrated in these buckets. Any ideas?

Thanks. Not surprised. I don't automatically think of someone with seven posts as a "friend". Feels presumptive. Think I'll flag this and let the mods decide.

Unfortunate, sorry! The link worked for me and I don't subscribe FT.com. I guess the post should be blocked.

That article was cross-posted to the Irish Times, so if you haven't already viewed your ten IT articles this week (I assume most of you won't have :) ), you can also read it there: https://www.irishtimes.com/business/financial-services/record-etf-inflows-fuel-price-bubble-fears-1.3185508
