Canadian Ben, I just realized you are in Québec City!

Can't believe there is a Mustachian within 10km distance from me!!!

I know thousands of people, nobody have a clue arround here...middle class have NO interest to save and get ahead, riches spend, waste the resources and get out of shape. Everyone watch "La Voix" et le CH on their couch.

C'est la vie!

La voix is awesome.

I base that on the Def Leppard performance portion a year ago. That's 100% of what I've seen of the show.

I have people telling things like but it's just X amount of money. It doesn't matter. Followed immediately by the fact they don't need advances on their pay to pre-pay debt, what's another month or two at 12%?!

Thank God I'm an unemotional robot of a person. I get to retire decades earlier, and live better.

Just X amount of money! Yeah!

Just 4$/month fees taken from my checking account...

Just 3k$/year to head south every year...

Just 90$/week for the house keeping...

Just 1% return when "investing" in TFSA or RRSP?????

Compared to household with the same gross salaries, we JUST save 20-30k$ more/year while our NW increase 75k$/year on average

Our actual asset allocation is 30%ZCN (Canadian stock index etf),  25%VTI, 10%VBR and 35%VXUS

I manage all of our accounts (6) as a big portfolio with only 1 ETF/account for most of them. Nothing is complicated, fees and taxes are low etc. BTW, total investments are close to 1M$ now...

I'm just thinking to add few more asset classes with good expected return. I actually think about buying VNQ, maybe 5%, and lower my VXUS target to 30%.

Then, the next step would be to reduce again the VXUS to 25% and invest the difference into VSS. At the end, I would get: 30%ZCN, 25%VTI, 10%VBR, 5%VNQ, 25%VXUS and 5%VSS

I really appreciate broad index but also find appealing the small cap, value and real estate tilts.

Many interesting post within this thread!

Even if I am happy with actual portfolio, I realised my exposure to Canadian stock is maybe to high, arround 33% actually because of ZCN + the Canadian content of VXUS.

The remaining TFSA room will be filled with XAW to increase US + Intl vs Canada. My goal is to get a 25/40/35 Can/US/Intl over the next few years (no need to rebalance, just with new money). My accounts will look like this:

Taxable: 100% ZCN
TFSA: 100% XAW
RESP: 100% ZCN
RRSP: 35% VTI, 15% VBR & 50% VXUS
