I can't seem to find a straight answer online :(
Some say 10,000, some say 1000.

$25?

Get a Questrade TFSA, purchases of ETFs is commission free. So you can buy one unit at a time if you really want to.

Thanks, that is probably the best option. But it's actually the minimum purchase amount for the mutual funds that I'm wondering about.

But why do you care about mutual funds, when ETF's are cheaper, have no minimum purchases, etc? There's no point in caring about mutual funds since you're simply worse off with them.

OP I think you're reading the... amount you need to buy to have it as a broker. As a retail investor for mutual funds you might be able to start with $50 or $100. Possibly $25, even. At worst $500, but absolutely categorically not $10,000!!!

That's what seemed to make sense to me, but then I was reading that in Canada we have only a limited access to purchase Vanguard mutual funds, but can now buy ETFs.
