Title: Dumping old stock before years end
Post by: lielec11 on December 29, 2014, 08:10:25 PM
I have about $500 in losses on an old stock in a taxable account. It is an mREIT that I mistakenly got into and am thinking about dumping before years end. My accounts are new so any gains are negligible. Seems like a no-brainer to write off the loss, no?

Sounds like a good plan, unless you plan to have a higher marginal tax rate and no gains to offset next year. Then wait until next week.
