single stock versus index comparison tool
« on: December 12, 2018, 10:34:17 AM »
Looking for help - is there a tool already built to do this?

I want to evaluate how my stock picks from many years ago did versus if I had put the money in an index.

Does anyone know of a good tool to compare a single stock versus an index, particularly VTI (Vanguard total market)?

For illustration, if I bought $1,000 of Johnson and Johnson (JNJ) for $100/share on March 3, 2011 (not real #s) compared to putting $1,000 into VTI.  What would the performance be to date for the two scenarios?

Thanks!

Add a ‘Comparison’ stock to the chart for your date range.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
