Title: current mortgage rates
Post by: Mr Mark on August 12, 2014, 04:26:57 PM
FYI, just locked in a 30yr fixed mortgage for a second home with 20% down, no fees except appraisal,  at 4.375%

Not as great as last year, but not bad, IMHO.

Hope it will be a bit of an inflation hedge. Don't intend to do anything to pay it off in FIRE.

We were able to pay half a point to secure 4.15% last Monday from a local credit union (4.22% total APR). We were pretty stoked on this. CNN Money quotes the 30/fixed rate at 4.43% today. Sounds like we both lucked out. Likely headed up!

Where did you secure a 'no fee except appraisal' loan?

Discover home loans. So far, they've been excellent.

actually, now that ive locked, I get a $200 contribution to closing, no fee for loan ( lots of other fees tho)
