What would be the major factors you would consider in this decision and other general opinions on this situation?

Life situation is one - and specifically if are married want to involve a spouse in your decision. The question is then whether you want the pension to pay out for your lifetime, or for the longer of two lifetimes (yours and your spouse's).

And then there's your thinking on your own life expectancy...do you figure you'll live into your 90s? Are you worried about your heart and the possibility you won't make another 10 years? Those questions will help you think about whether you choose an option that has a guaranteed payout number of years or not.

Sounds like you've got lots of reading to do on these issues before making a decision. In my case (public pension) I can attend free educational workshops that explain the process and the components. Those are very helpful.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
