Canadian Vanguard...
« on: March 29, 2014, 08:28:20 AM »
Hello there! Have been looking into Vanguard REIT to switch over from my current Mutual Funds with Scotia ... they are new here only since December 2013 ... am wondering what (serious/experienced) investors think of this ETF?
I am very very very new to this and live in Canada ... :)

Thank you!

VRE?

Look at ZRE. Probably a higher expense ratio, but equal weight not cap weighted - ie not 20% Riocan!

I was very excited when Vanguard opened in canada and now hold a diversified ETF portfolio with them.
I think they provide a superior product with the best MER's in canada! I would switch in a heartbeat

I am also very new to investing and find the Canadian Couch Potato blog helpful to explain concepts and go through some ETF analysis. Here's a bit on the Vanguard fund you mentiond:

I chose ZRE over VRE for the reasons mentioned above.  Both are likely better options then your current fund.
