Canadian noob question: Tangerine/Questrade fees
« on: April 22, 2015, 08:10:17 PM »
Hi everyone,

First post here. (Consider my upper lip silky-smooth)

I have searched the forum and was unable to find an answer so forgive me if this has been covered.

I'm just wondering what the fees are associated with

     A) Getting out of a Tangerine Fund

     B) Sales fees when selling ETF's at QT

I haven't yet decided where to start cultivating my stache and I assume neither are deal breakers but I would just like to know. (Knowledge being power and all that jazz)

I Love the forums and I love the Can-Con which can be so hard to find sometimes.

Thanks,
K

To transfer our of a registered tangerine account there is a 45.00 Fee. This is as of Jan 2015, ING never had any transfer out fees :(

For Questrade the fee structure is here:

Thanks Swick!

The fees seem to be pretty minor with respect to the sums involved.

I'm quickly running out of reasons to not activate the stache.

No prob :) I just went through the whole process myself :) Questrade is offering a pretty good referral bonus right now and if you are transferring more then 25,000 they'll pay your transfer out fees. Let me know if you feel like using my referral code, gets you up to 250.00 depending on how much you transfer.

Kambo, just a heads up: I notice you asking only about sales fees when you sell. Presumably you noticed that Questrade advertises no-fees when buying ETFs. However, you will pay a small amount of exchange fees when buying ETFs (0.0035 or 0.0008 $/share as on linked page).
You may have already known that, but I thought I'd tell you if you didn't so it wouldn't be a surprise.

-CanuckExpat,
Thanks for the heads up. I had already seen the ECN fees but I appreciate you highlighting them again.

-Swick,
Thanks for the heads up about the bonus and your code.
I'm not in a position to make a move just yet. We are in the process of deciding where to live so we are keeping funds very liquid at the moment.

thanks
K
