Calculating rate of return
« on: March 05, 2017, 12:44:27 AM »
I want to figure out the easiest tool to calculate my rate of return adjusted for time. I have vanguard and other accounts and they don't have a great tool to see how much return i'm getting for each investment. For example I buy VTSAX @ $23 last year then I bought it again at $25 and $28. Now its at $33 how much is my return adjusted for time? Like 5% a year or 9.3% in total. Can I export this data somehow into a tool to do it. I could do it in Excel but it seems like such a common problem that there is a good way to handle this.

There is Calculating personal returns - Bogleheads.  Haven't tried it myself.

Read the above - good info, I tgink with some links to calculators. Me, I just read my performance reports.

Canada just implemented new CRM2  law that TWRR and MWRR must be reported to the account holder.  I like my new  TW and MW Performance reports in Investorline.

I'm not sure if this CRM2 would help or confuse you unless you hold a canadian account, but its a possible direction to dig deeper.
