MMM recommended this fund in his article about dividends and investing in the S&P High Yield Dividend Aristocrats Index. I want to buy this fund, but don't know where to buy it or what the fees are. Any information or thoughts would be appreciated.

You could use any brokerage, like Sharebuilder.

Well I'm concerned about fees. I currently have a financial adviser with Ameriprise Financial. Would the fees be the same if I purchased the fund through my broker at Ameriprise or should I use Vanguard for example?

Fees at Sharebuilder are minimal. If you go with automatic investing, it is only $4/trade (and I actually have 7 free automatic investment credits built up), plus they usually have some kind of bonus program set up where they give you $50 or something to open the account. There might even be a referral program where I could get cash too if you signed up, but I'm not sure. Then the only other fees are what SDY would charge no matter where you buy from.

What fees are you worried about? The broker fee? Account fees?

Looks like they charge $6 per trade which is good and $10/quarter for a brokerage account which is a rip-off.

SDY has a .35 expense ratio, so not bad. The only fee you have to worry about is the fee it costs to buy shares. I have TD Ameritrade ($10 a trade) and Sharebuilder (do the automatic investment thing). Assuming you're investing $1500 or more a pop it's worth it.

FYI I would look into Free trades https://www.robinhood.io
