Anyone using WiseBanyan?
« on: November 18, 2015, 01:36:38 PM »
Earlier this year I opened up a Wealthfront account. After a few months, I moved all of its assets over to Vanguard because I realized how even the nominal fees would eventually bite me. Ironically enough, 4 out of the 6 ETFs were Vanguard anyway.

I still like the idea of RoboAdvisors simply for the rebalancing aspect, which leaves me with WiseBanyan. I opened an account earlier this week, but am iffy about funding it. I don't want to regret it 6 months from now and just move everything over to Vanguard.

Anyone here have any thoughts on the service? It's "free" but the "wise harvesting" feature looks like something you need to pay for.

Also, sorry if this exact question has been posted before. I don't have much luck with the search functionality on the forums.

If you like the robo advisor's asset allocation and don't want to calculate the re-balancing you could sign up at futureadvisor.com and then invest the money at Vanguard.  You will still have to manually re-balance at Vanguard but future advisor will tell you what to do.

I've been a WiseBanyan user since March 2015 and I'm very pleased with the service.  There are no fees for the normal service, $10 account minimum, fractional shares, and the asset allocation is better than Betterment and Wealthfront in my opinion.  The portfolio contains a mix of stocks, bonds, and REITs.  The tax loss harvesting service has a minimal fee and they are rolling out other services over the coming months.  I've found their customer service to be very responsive and helpful.
