Title: Any legal issues with moving all HSA funds into investment account?
Post by: Aggie1999 on February 02, 2017, 08:15:17 PM
Like most/all HSA accounts mine lets me invest when the balance get's over $2100. I have been doing this. If the balance is below $2100 then it will not allow me to transfer any funds into the investment side. Interesting quirk though seems to be if I am above $2100 I can transfer the whole balance into the investment side. Just no further transfers until the cash builds back up to over $2100. Any legal/tax reason not to transfer all the cash to the investment side?

No legal/tax reasons.  It's a provider specific issue.

I'm in the midst of changing HSA providers and right now the new, smaller one, only has $200 in it. All $200 is invested.

Some HSA providers put minimums on investments. One company I dealt with years ago had a $3,000 minimum.
