The volumes of all of them are large enough that the spread is negligible.
Do you intend to hold them in an RRSP?
There are (small) tax advantages to a US listed fund that holds US stocks directly rather than a Canadian fund that holds a US fund - but then you get hit by currency fees

Unless you have 5figures invested in VUN/VTI  doesn't make a lot of difference.
There are arguments whether you should buy VUN (entire US market, including small firms) or just the SP500.
Some years small caps do better, some years the SP500 wins.
VUN = total US, VDU=developed except US, VEE=developing world, VXC = all of them (except Canada)

Basically rules - save, put money in, buy cheap index funds, don't sell

xiu?  no that tracks the tsx 60

i personally own vxc for non canadian equity.  keeps it simple.  trades in CDN$ on CDN exchange as i don't want to hassle of converting back and forth with USD

I had vdu and vun, but decided vxc would be easier. Now I don't even have to bother with vee.
