Hi everyone,

First time posting but long time lurking!

I have just got my act together and have enough to max out mine and my wife's stocks and shares ISA this year and want to put it in a Vanguard index fund.

Would like to hear how you have done/approached this?

Thanks,

MrP

When you say how we have approached this, what do you mean? I opted for the LifeStrategy 100%, and then I also went for the vanguard small cap and vanguard emerging markets. I also chose a black rock global property tracker. Eventually the split will be 70/10/10/10 but because of the minimum investment amounts it's currently more equal than that

We set up 2x ISA at Alliance Trust Savings. They charge 75/year flat fee which is low. But, you then pay when you trade. Good for us, as we invest lump sums infrequently.

However, if you make lots of smaller, regular investments, try www.rplan.co.uk. They charge 0.35% of your balance per year. Once you have over 30,000 invested they get expensive.
