That's pretty bad.

This morning I saw a "Chicken Little" article from Bloomberg about how the S&P 500 is becoming "increasingly painful" as the "losses pile up" (it's as bad as 1965 under Lyndon Johnson, people!). Meanwhile ignoring that it's up 3.5% in just the two months of July and August. If you are dollar cost averaging, you've also done insanely well with all the dips between January and April (with gains somewhere in the 10-16% range, depending on where in the cycle your money was).

Just more arguments for the low information diet.

And worse, that's not nearly as egregious as your CNBC example.

Do you have any recommended sites that do have quality information then?  Honestly I ignore any banner that says breaking news.  I find that they're most often not...  But as I really started paying attention the to markets back in February, I'd love some insight on where you get news from.  While their might be a bunch of click bait (which you find on most sites) I've found it to be a decent overview of what's going on if nothing else.

Invest in such a way that you don't need any news of what's going on in the markets at all.  It makes things simpler, and discourages market timing behaviour.

I find the Wall Street Journal to be quite interesting and has significantly higher quality information than the vast majority of media out there.

They can't be that dumb. You were on their site to see the banner. ;)

While that I do, I still like to see what's happening in the market.  And in some cases it pays off, like putting extra money in following Brexit.  While everyone else as bemoaning their "losses," I was adding numbers in stock.  I don't want to time, but I want to know what's going on.

See my comment regarding market timing behaviour.  I'm glad that it worked out for you this time, but it's safer to never take those gambles.   :P

Nothing on television and nothing online that operates in real-time. A weekly online magazine would be the safer option if you're looking for quality analysis and avoiding click bait or sensationalist crap.
