2021 retirement contribution limis?
« on: October 06, 2020, 02:13:11 PM »
It's that time of year once more when the IRS announces whether its contribution limits to retirement accounts will change for the coming year. Has anyone heard yet what they plan to do?

Almost certain to be the same as 2020.

They haven't been released yet, and strictly speaking they could go down.

They haven't been officially released yet, but The Finance Buff blog has been good at estimating them in the past in my experience. Here are his predictions: https://thefinancebuff.com/401k-403b-ira-contribution-limits.html

Looks like the only contribution limits likely to change are HSA (+$50 single/+$100 married) and the overall 401(k)/403(b) limit (+$1000), but that's only likely to matter if you have a solo 401(k), have especially high income, or your employer allows mega backdoor Roth contributions as it's hard to hit otherwise.
