100 % Fonds and regular outcome Question
« on: September 12, 2015, 05:50:34 PM »
I wondering about 2 things.
1. Is it correct that MMM recommends a portfolio with 100% Index Funds, an no bonds, correct?
2. How do you manage to have a monthly or quarterly outcome from your portfolio, do you sell frequently? The distribution of dividends might not be enough?

Thanks Torsten

I'm not sure what MMM recommends, but I think cFIREsim and others generally predict a higher success rate for an 80/20 stock/bond ratio than 100% stocks.

Selling some shares during retirement is just fine. All the portfolio success studies assume you'll do that as needed to get the correct withdrawal amount. If you're invested mostly in VTSAX with its 2% dividend yield, dividends definitely won't be enough unless you worked for a lot longer than you needed to.
