Hi all.  I'm trying to work on a problem presented in the book "the seven rules of Wall Street" and would like to know where to reference the data needed.

Where can I find historical data on how sectors have performed?

You could used past performance of sector ETFs or mutual funds. IShares and SPDR have been around for about 15 years, Fidelity mutual funds longer than that. Check out Yahoo finance for free data.

S&P develops the sector indexes that underlie Vanguard's sector funds. Maybe they have returns data. Vanguard's funds have returns data for 10 years.
