-$7k Net Worth Celebratory Thread
« on: January 25, 2014, 05:57:39 AM »
Any Bogleheads out there know what I'm talking about? The last two days were a nice little bruiser. I responded by pouring an extra glass of Malbec and watching some Hulu.

How much did you lose this week and what did you do to celebrate? :)

I got lucky with my timing and unloaded 48 shares of PCP at 274, right before it plummeted to 255... I'm tempted to buy it all back and take the ride back up, but that smacks of market timing.

I'm probably down $20k this week, but that's the way the market works sometimes. This just means next week's 401(k) contribution will buy more shares!

Overall, we're way up over last year, but dropping $22k yesterday still annoyed me.  That's over 6 months of living expenses!

I lost $5k but I am glad.  Honestly I wouldn't mind if the S&P was still at 1200 right now.  I feel like I didn't get to buy enough stocks while they were on sale.

Down $25k but I'll be buying $50k worth spread over the next three months. Hopefully it stays low. I wouldn't mind if it stays flat all year.

I lost a lot too. I keep thinking that now I get to buy stuff on sale.

Dow down 2% overnight.

Once heard that equities are likely to go down 2 years out of every 7. Given we've been on an uptrend since 2009 (in Aus) we probably are due for pause.

Having said that, the ASX still needs to rise another 33% to reach November 2007 highs. When it eventually gets there it will apparently be the longest recovery back to square in history.

It certainly works out better for those still in the acquisition stage.  I wish I had some money to throw at it!

The markets took a dive? I truly wasn't pay attention.

+1.  Honestly had no idea until I read this thread.

Couldn't tell you what the market is doing, don't care.

If it's a big enough drop (ala 2008), I'm sure I'll hear about it, and at that point I'll time the market (i.e. start buying with every penny I can scrape together, which differs from my current AA/FIRE plan), but otherwise my automatic contributions will keep rolling along.

And the sale is over ... only got my toe wet during the dip. Additional dry powder from tax refund, work bonus, etc won't come til March.
