Transplanting Peppers
« on: July 21, 2021, 10:53:08 AM »
Welp, I have to move from my current place and I’d like to take my peppers along if possible.  Looking for tips, tricks, horror stories, or any advice

Some general facts:
1.  I have 6 banana pepper plants, 3 jalapeños, and 4 bell peppers.  All are in the ground
2.  I live in zone 8 - so it’s summer time right now
3.  Plants will be moved in next two weeks
4.  I’d like to try a couple into a pot, but the rest will be moved into the ground at a different location
5.  The banana and jalapeño are waist height and pumping out peppers right now

I’d love to keep a couple of the banana and jalapeño alive if possible.  I really love their bounties.

Does this have any chance at succeeding?

I've seen YouTube videos about potting peppers to get them through winter, so it should be doable.

Basic suggestions for any transplanting - water them really well the day before.  Try to get the whole rootball.  Prune a bit to reduce demands on roots.  If there is a lot of root damage, prune a lot.

Good luck.
