DIY cat torment

Pretty simple 20 minute project. The catnip leaves poke through the wire as the plant grows and the cats go bonkers nibbling/pulling on them when they get within reach.

My wife did ask what was going to happen when one of them jumps off the railing into the pot directly... hm.

Our cats always used to go crazy with catnip. This wouldn't normally be a problem but for some reason it always resulted in our cats peeing on the carpet. I think this is the cat version of not being able to hold your liquor.

I wouldn't put it past a determined cat to knock the whole thing over.

I'm pretty sure Sibley in her prime could have. I know my mom's cat Bart could, because he did knock something similar over. Mom's cat Jesse would probably climb up and over somehow, she's small enough she couldn't budge the plant but she's a good climber and has gotten herself into odder places. My Arwen wouldn't bother probably, she's not interested in catnip. Now, put a mouse in there and all bets are off - Arwen will manage something.

Cat jumps on railing and into pot. Done. Why would they ever want to leave? Should that happen, they can always knock over the pot and escape. Too easy.

A small percentage of cats are immune to catnip. It's very much in keeping with my cat's contrary personality that he is one of them.

So this seemed as good a place to post this as anywhere

I’ve been growing several herbs in 2” starter pots, waiting to transplant until the threat of frost had passed.  Basil, Cilantro, Parsley etc.

Last night my cat climbed on the countertop and absolutely decimated several of the pots.  Dirt and tiny leaves everywhere.  Oh wait... I also planted catnip.  ::facepalm::
