Can't tell if I replied to private message or not

I got a private message from someone, and I remember typing up a response and I think sending it, but it doesn't show up in my sent items. On the message it states "you have forwarded or responded to this message". So, did I send the reply? If so, why isn't it on my sent items?!?

The text of the message isn't saved automatically in an outbox, you have to find the right box to tick to save it.  I rarely remember, it's irritating.

Yes, it’s very annoying. I try to click the box before starting to type anything so I’m less likely to forget.
