Any way to untag content from posts you've replied in?
« on: October 15, 2020, 10:23:55 AM »
There are some threads I'd like to not have show up in my "new replies to your posts" & feel like there's an option to "unsubscribe" from them, but can't easily find it.

I'm trying to reduce my off topic posting. :-)

Thanks!

I think you have to find and delete your replies individually.  I hope there is a better way!

Yeah the options are delete all your posts from that thread or use the slightly hidden notifications page as your bookmark and un notify from threads you don't want to see anymore. I wish the notification page was not hideen under profile, it would make it more usable.

Use “notifications” to stop getting alerted to threads you have posted in. Daley did a good explanation - you can search for his post on the topic ( includes screenshots and setting selections).

Or, I could just re-post the info here since it's buried back a few pages and years. The feature you want to use instead is Notifications.

Bookmark this link and use it as your homepage for the forum:
https://forum.mrmoneymustache.com/profile/?area=notification

On that page, you'll see a box full of settings, use the following settings:

☐ Receive forum newsletters, announcements and important notifications by email.
☑ Turn notification on when you post or reply to a topic.
☐ When sending notification of a reply to a topic, send the post in the email (but please don't reply to these emails.)

For topics and boards I've requested notification on, notify me: [Instantly  ▼]
For topics and boards I've requested notification on, notify me of: [Nothing at all  ▼]

                                                                                                                                      [Save settings]

Then press the [Save settings] button under it and to the right. This page will show you all the forum threads you've either posted to (after setting this up) or pressed the [NOTIFY] button at the top and bottom of each thread next to the [REPLY] button without sending you summary journals to your email of every new post to the threads you're watching. New posts will float to the top of that list chronologically, and clicking the tiny orange [NEW] label will take you the first new post in that thread since you last read it. Once you're finished following it, just ☑ tick the box next to that thread in the list and press [Unnotify].

Happy reading.

Thanks @Daley. I was too lazy to search and link (or copy/paste).

Thanks so much, @Daley ! I actually searched for your post, and couldn't find it. I'll give this a try

Yup yup. Glad to help... and more importantly, I'm glad you're not potentially vanishing content and posts to a thread that might otherwise be useful just to stop seeing it pop up in a read list.

Or an attempt at a joke.  I’ve been lurking since day 2, and registered since 2013 yet still only have bristles (both here and IRL).  I’ve given up on post counts.  Karma however I will whore for.

Don't worry. I, too, posted tongue-in-cheek knowing exactly what you were referencing. ;)

At this point, though? I'm honestly just glad the forum's finally configured well and the database has been optimized well enough at this point that search works again.
