'Guest' status
« on: July 02, 2018, 07:33:08 AM »
Occasionally someone, who is here often, status will change to guest. You cannot search their old posts or see anything about them. I think this happened to spartana for a while and now I have noticed it with jordanread. He is the author of serveral sticky threads I am on. Is he just on vacation and doesn't want his email pinged? Banned? I am not even sure how to turn my account to this.

I think this happens when someone deletes their profile. The posts remain with their name unless they would go through and delete each post.
If you just go dormant, no change is seen.
I don’t know what happens if you get banned for life.

P.s. A person will delete their account for any number of reasons: to get off a bazillion neverending threads they once participated in; to force themselves into a break (can also use ColdTurkey for that); because they don’t want to be involved anymore.

Tip: If any of these are true, and you don’t want your *posts* showing your old name for all eternity, change your username to something random before deleting your account and becoming Guest. (I *think* this changes our posts’ author names, yes?)
