Idea for podcast - feedback please
« on: December 30, 2022, 05:47:00 AM »
Hey everyone - I am thinking of starting a podcast and wanted to get peoples input. I want to gear it to someone like my wife and I who are just getting started on this journey (so low net worth or negative) and want to try to reach fire quickly -5 years and have a strong "why" that drives them So if this sounds like you I would really appreciate your feedback? It would be a podcast about our journey from negative net worth to hopefully financial freedom in 5 years. Along the way we would share with the audience what we are learning(both good and bad) as we go and actions they can do along with us. We would also interview guests that can give us and the audience actionable advice along our journey. Any and all constructive advice or imput would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

What will be your hook? The thing that makes you different from every other example of people trying to FIRE?

If you are going to do interviews, how will you differentiate them from the interviews on the Choose FI podcast?

How are you planning to engage a younger audience, since this will likely be the population your story most appeals to? Will you just make a podcast, or will you have more of a social media presence, like instagram and TikTok?

A fresh take might be something akin to reaction videos to consumerist trends, this is a great way to capture a current Zeitgeist from a different perspective.

For example, I keep seeing stuff about Shein Hauls, this is apparently a trend where influencers order ginormous orders of fast fashion clothing from Shein and then model how ugly the bulk of them turn out and the rare bits that are actually good.

It's heinously wasteful, but the videos are popular, so a frugality/minimalist reaction to something like that could be a fresh take on a really tired narrative.

Have you thought of doing what JL Collins did? He essentially wrote a guide that was strictly for his daughter, and it became The Simple Path to Wealth.

want to gear it to someone like my wife

What if it was only for your wife? For example, I have been writing a private letter to my wife the past few years. It's not a secret - she knows about it - but it's private.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
