IT/Help desk consulting for financial planners/advisors
« on: March 23, 2021, 08:40:14 PM »
Hi all,

My wife is an independent contractor for a friend of ours who is a financial planner and helps her do administrative assistant type work. She has to occasional remote desktop into our financial planner friend's laptop/computer located in her office. Our friend currently uses an IT contractor (I'm assuming) who acts as an ad-hoc help desk guy and has all her computer/router/etc stuff setup. I noticed the way he has remote desktop setup is not very secure as far as I can tell: I'm guessing he has port mapping to 3389 setup. smh....

Anyway, I started inquiring with my wife about just helping our friend directly and she said, since she works for LPL, there's some approved vendor list. Is anyone familiar with this or the process to become a contractor/vendor for financial planners who work for financial advising/planning firms like LPL, etc?

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
