Title: Books that are actually good - Entrepreneurship
Post by: Edge of Reason on February 11, 2020, 09:02:23 AM
Maybe I missed it, but I donít see this topic in this sub-forum.

There are lots of books on entrepreneurship out there, but what books have you read that you actually enjoyed?

Please list the title, the author and why you liked it.

Iíll start:
The Ultimate Freelancerís Guidebook by Yuwanda Black

Lots of great information in this little gem; how to come up with unique slogans, the five Wís of marketing, invoicing tips and where to find leads were just a few of many takeaways.

I'm a big fan of Paul Jarvis and Company of One.

These days everyone is about finding venture capital funding, scaling, building a larger & larger team, more publicity, and growth, growth, GROWTH!!!!

Jarvis, IMHO, makes a compelling argument for questioning all of that. Beyond initial growth, why do you want to grow your business more. What will that entail? Is personal satisfaction and happiness part of the equation?

The Lean Startup is also a must for new entrepreneurs ... just wished I had more closely followed that advice.

Peter Drucker's Innovation and Entrepreneurship... All the more interesting because it was written a long time ago and yet so much of it (maybe everything?) is still so, so relevant.

Here's amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/Innovation-Entrepreneurship-Peter-F-Drucker/dp/0060851139

"The Art of the Start" by Guy Kawasaki. Easy read and very practical.
