Title: Any car detailers?
Post by: zoochadookdook on May 17, 2019, 11:57:11 AM
Hey all looking to start 1 step detailing and was hoping there were some detailers lurking about on here. I have service questions/necessary start-up questions that I'm looking for some insight on!

Thanks

Disclaimer:  I do not work for Meguiars but I love their stuff.  They have a whole forum on detailing business and how to get started:

If you want to make money at detailing, go high-end. Cars that cost $80k and up. Sports cars and SUV's. These guys want it done right (= spotless! no dust anywhere on the interior!) and will pay good money to have it done right.

A good place to look for customers is those who are selling cars. Either high-end dealers or individuals. The dealers probably already have someone, but they are ALWAYS on the lookout for someone else--who knows when their current guy is going to flake out? Move out of town/raise prices/start doing sloppy work/get a job doing something else, you name it.

As fun as high end would be- I don't have the proper spotless facuility/15-20 hour time lines in place for a perfect detail on the weekends. Looking to make a few hundred/weekend is all-If I get more comfortable with paint correction/polishing I may step it up but I haven't been in it since being a porter 10 years ago in highschool hah.
