PVC molding and a hot water radiator

I'm partially redoing a bathroom and I'm putting in new molding along the bottom of the walls.  I like that PVC is so impervious to water but I'm worried about the proximity to the hot-water radiator.   How close is too close?  Visually it would look best if the PVC was cut to come within about a 1/2 inch of the radiator.  Will it melt?  smoke?  give off odors?

I'm assuming baseboard, so even touching would likely be fine.  PVC begins to soften at around 140, but with a 1/2 air gap between the molding and the cover, then another air gap between the cover and the hot water pipes, the molding won't see close to that.

This would actually be the gap between the pvc and the pipe containing the hot water itself.

I still don't think you'd have an issue, but are there no end caps on your baseboard?  Put your hand where you want the molding to go when the heat is on.  If it's too hot to hold it there a while, you might have problems.  If you could hold it there indefinitely, you won't have any issues.
